When applying for your passport, one of the most important requirements that you have to submit is your photo. The US government has strict rules about passport photos, and one must get it right the first time around when you submit your photo for a rapid passport approval. Whenever you fail to submit the right kind of photos needed for the application, delays may ensue, and you may have a difficulty obtaining your passport quickly.

The passport photo needed for US passports should be 2x2 inches in size. Your picture should not take any size other than this one, or else, your application will not be approved. You also need to make sure that the photos that you are going to submit are all identical. There are cases wherein people fail to submit identical passport photos, and because of that, their application has either been delayed or denied.

The passport photo should be taken within the past six months, so as it will show your current appearance for easy recognition. Remember that photos should be taken in full color, with a white background. If you are working, uniforms should not be worn when taking your passport photos. If ever you need to wear a head covering for religious or medical reasons, then you should have a statement including the reason for doing so. If this happens, make sure that the head covering does not cover any part of the face. It must not also cast a shadow on your eyes. This guideline, although you may think it trivial, is still very important. If you disregard this, there are chances that your passport will not be approved. Hats and other headgears should not be worn while your passport photo is being taken. You should follow these rules strictly if you want your passport to be approved.

If you usually wear glasses, a wig, a hearing device or anything for that matter, then you should also wear them when your passport photo is being taken. This is done for easy recognition, since you are identified for wearing them. However, tinted glasses are certainly prohibited when your passport photo is being taken. If you were prescribed to wear tinted glasses, again, a written statement should be made including your reason for wearing such paraphernalia.

Make sure that the passport photos you are going to submit are clear. It should not be blurry or too dark. Proper exposure and lighting are needed in order to produce a picture perfect passport photo.

As much as possible, do not attempt to take your own passport photo. Make sure that you drop by some recognized institutions which really take quality passport photos. The United States government is very strict when it comes to the submission of passport photos so you have to make sure that you get the correct qualifications. Organizations such as Kinkos, Sears, and AAA are recognized institutions who really take quality passport photos. Make sure that you drop by and have your photos taken.
